The Boss DS-1 Distortion is a legendary, compact effects pedal that has remained a staple on pedalboards since its introduction in 1978, renowned for providing a hard-edged distortion that perfectly preserves the unique sonic characteristics of a player’s guitar and pickups.

Housed in Boss’s iconic, road-ready textured orange metal enclosure, this analogue pedal has a simple three-knob interface consisting of Tone, Level, and Distortion.

The pioneering Tone knob utilizes a unique circuit which cuts highs while boosting lows when turned counter-clockwise, and boosts highs while scooping lows when turned clockwise, offering a sweeping tonal range from warm, muddy crunch to razor-sharp highs.

Operating on a standard 9V battery or a DC power supply with a buffered bypass to maintain signal integrity over long cable runs, the DS-1 delivers everything from subtle grit for blues-rock to heavy, aggressive clipping ideal for grunge, punk, and classic rock.
